To be perfectly honest, I was not born with a camera in my hand, did not take photos all throughout my childhood, and actually hated my college photography courses. That was back in the day before digital cameras were mainstream and film had to be developed in the dark room. I could almost always count on destroying at least some portion of the film during the development process...ah the memories! I attended college for Fine Arts/Drawing and loved the hands on approach to concept and design. Since college I've only worked in fields requiring knowledge of design and composition. For the past 12 years I have worked as a graphic designer and industrial photographer but also have experience as a floral designer. Past knowledge of floral design comes in very handy as a wedding photographer!
Cameras are my tool to stop time. It's capturing that breathtaking sunrise, the nervous joy at the wedding altar, the look on a child's face as they discover something new, that's what really keeps my passion for photography alive. I strive to capture that "in the moment" opportunity and transform it to something people can look at and experience the feelings all over again.
